MIRI: Beautiful and intelligent ladies, particularly in Sarawak, are urged to take part in the Miss Malaysia Global International 2011, scheduled to be held in Miri in June/July.

Organising chairperson Marlene Lim, who is the current Miss Malaysia Global International 2010/2011 and second-runner-up of the world Miss Global International 2010, said the beauty pageant is an ideal platform to promote Miri, Sarawak and Malaysia to the world community.
“Making Miri as the venue is an advantage for Sarawakians; they don’t have to spend much on airfare and accommodation considering that most international level pageants are held in Kuala Lumpur.
“Come for the interviews in Miri and leave the groom and training to us,” said Marlene to thesundaypost yesterday.
She disclosed that at least six spots would be allocated to ladies in Sarawak.
However, she said if there was little response from Sarawak beauties, it would have to be given to others from Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
Interviews in Sarawak will be held on Jan 14 at Gymkhana Club Miri from 3.30pm to 6.30pm while those in Sabah at Court Hotel 1Borneo from 4pm to 6pm.
Entries are still open and applicants must be a Malaysian citizen, aged between 18-26, and have a minimum height of five feet three inches (5’ 3”).
They must submit or email the following details along with their full name, date of birth, identity card/passport number, state of origin, weight/height/statistics, previous modeling/pageant experiences and current occupation to [email protected].
For the audition, participants are advised to turn up in presentable attire and high heels, and bring along photos and education certificates.
Marlene disclosed that there had been very encouraging response from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah towards the beauty pageant.
“In fact, I met and interviewed some of the ladies in the peninsula the last few days, and I expect to see more ladies from Sarawak to come for the interview on Jan 14,” she said.
She added the proposed date for the national competition is either in June or July in Miri City while the international competition will be on Sept 24 at Grand Palladium Resort & Spa, Montego Bay, Jamaica. Miss Global International, formerly called Miss Commonwealth Beauty Pageant, had attracted ladies from 54 countries of the commonwealth.
