IPOH: A secondary school student was killed after a metal bar hit him in the head during a uniformed unit training in Taiping yesterday.
Goh Swee Khim, 14, of Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Hua Lian suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.
Taiping police chief ACP Yusof Mohd Diah said the incident at 6am happened at the school field.
“Goh was pulling a rope stretched with a metal bar together with 20 other students. The metal bar suddenly flew and hit him in the head,” he said when contacted yesterday.
A teacher then contacted police to inform of the incident.
The body was then sent to Taiping Hospital for a post-mortem.
Yusof said police have classified the case as sudden death. — Bernama
