KUCHING: Two rape suspects, a father and son from Kampung Sungai Bedil, were re-arrested in court yesterday morning.
RE-ARRESTED: The father and son being escorted back to the temporary holding cell at the courthouse.
The duo, who had allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl, were released on police bail as ordered by a court registrar upon expiry of their remand.
The grandfather and uncle of the alleged victim were re-arrested to facilitate police investigation in a related case of outraging the modesty of two sisters, aged 11 years and 14 years.
The case was investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
On the first rape victim, an unconfirmed source said a DNA test will be conducted on the baby of the girl who is five months’ pregnant to ascertain the identity of the father.
The source added that the father of the baby could be convicted under Section 376 of the Penal Code for statutory rape.
The three girls who are siblings have been staying with the uncle and grandfather since their parents divorced several years ago.
The mother was said to be unable to take care of them and had left her daughters in the care of her family.
The case came to light when the mother noticed the change in physical appearance of the eldest daughter.
She told the mother about the rape which she claimed took place in their house since she was 10 years old.
