KUCHING: Painting the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in a bad light is a trap laid by the Opposition to fish for votes.

PBB vice-president Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman said the Opposition are always hurling baseless accusations at the government, and thus the people should be aware of their true colours.

Speaking at a ‘Maulidur Rasul’ celebration at Darul Rurqan Mosque in Taman Malihah here yesterday, Daud urged the people to continue to rally behind the BN as only its leaders could  improve the standard of living of the community.

“It’s proven that under the BN government the rakyat have enjoyed the fruits of many programmes and policies,” he said.

Daud added that the Opposition’s claim that Malaysia is not a democratic country was rubbish because all its leaders were elected by the people.

On the celebration, he urged the people to preserve their high level of tolerance for each other which had enabled every community to carry out their religious rituals freely.

After delivering his speech, Daud and Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Fadilah Yusof led some 400 muslims in a procession.
