He felt Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties and the opposition alliance were the suitors using various strategies to win the heart of the beautiful lady.

“BN is like man A and the opposition, man B. Man A is honest and does not make empty promises just to get the beautiful lady as his wife.

“As for man B who promises the moon and the sky, the beautiful lady will regret her choice if she happens to pick this man B who cannot keep promises,” he said when launching ‘Program Sejiwa Senada’ at Padang Lama KPSU here yesterday.

Taib said the people must see BN as an honest and sincere man who could bring progress to the state. The government did not make empty promises like the opposition.

He advised Sarawakians, particularly rural folks, to stay away from negative political elements, fearing they would be misled by groundless statements made to achieve personal agenda.

“Such negative phenomenon does not help enhance the standard of living among our people,” he said, hoping the communities would continue working closely with the BN government to see further development in Sarawak.

He said ‘Sejiwa Senada’ was the best platform for the people to understand government policies and plans.

“In the government’s efforts to ward off allegations which make us look bad, a programme like Sejiwa Senada is indeed suitable as it allows the people to directly deal with agencies and departments, so they can see what we are doing and have done,” he said.

The programme, started Friday and ends today, involved 133 state and federal departments and agencies.

About 90,000 people visited the programme which also featured side activities like e-contests and stage performances.

Also present yesterday were Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Federal Secretary Datuk Md Yahaya Basimin.
