Four hospitalised after vehicle rams into tree

KUCHING: Four Brunei citizens were injured in an accident in Santubong around 8am yesterday.

BADLY DAMAGED: The car wrecked after the crash.

Another person escaped injuries.

The five of them were on their way to participate in the finals of a lawn bowling competition.

It was raining heavily when their vehicle went out of control and crashed into a tree.

They were trapped inside the wreck and had to be extricated by the Fire and Rescue team.

The four injured  persons were hospitalised.

Meanwhile, three persons suffered injuries in two separate accidents on Saturday night.

In the first incident, two cars collided at the traffic lights at Jalan Sungai Apong around 8pm.

The 50-year-old car driver from Pending with his wife and three children were heading towards Kenyalang, while the other vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

The injured driver was sent to hospital for treatment.

All his family members and the other driver were unhurt.

In the second accident near Jalan Stephen Yong here around 9pm, a couple was injured.

The 20 and 18-year-old from Stampin Resettlement Scheme were heading home after visiting friends.

They were sent to hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating.
