Taxi driver found dead with gunshot wounds

SANDAKAN: A taxi driver was found dead with two gunshot wounds at the construction site of Universiti Malaysia Sabah at Mile 10 Jalan Sungai Batang here on Monday.

The body of Junaidi Saman, 53, who was shot below the chin and mouth, was  found  lying  face down besides  a  taxi  by  a  security guard at the site at about 7pm, said Sandakan police chief ACP Rowell Marong.

He said two bullet shells believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol were found at the scene and the victim was believed to have been shot from close range.

The police believe the victim was killed shortly before his  body  was found as security guards at the construction site saw a taxi entered the area at about 6pm, he said here yesterday.

Rowell  said  the victim was believed to have been shot  outside  the  taxi as there were no blood stains and signs of struggle in the taxi.

More than one person were believed to be involved in the murder and the police will look at all angles, including revenge, he said. — Bernama
