JKR staff must discharge duties diligently — Assemblyman

MUKAH: It is very important for all engineers, officers and staff of Public Works Department (JKR) Mukah to be dedicated and committed in discharging their duties during the implementation and supervision of government projects in order to avoid delays and incurring extra costs, said Jemoreng assemblyman Abu Seman Jahwie.

Abu Seman made the remark in his speech as guest-of-honour at the Sokanjaya Nite 2011 held at Dewan Suarah Mesra Mukah here recently.

In attendance were also Mukah Resident Saudi Narani and his deputy (development) Mohd Junaidi Mohidin, JKR Mukah divisional engineer, who is also Sokanjaya Mukah advisor Hipani Alwi, organising chairman, also Sokanjaya Mukah chairman Philip Kubu, heads of government departments, JKR Mukah staff and their family members.

“It is very important for all JKR engineers and personnel in Mukah to discharge their duties efficiently in planning, supervising and implementing government projects to enhance the income and well-being of the people, consistent with the government’s tagline of ‘People’s First, Performance Now’,” said Abu Seman.

Abu Seman also reminded JKR Mukah staff to project a positive attitude and image consistent with their role as leaders and models looked upon by youth and members of their respective community.

In his welcoming address, Hipani Alwi said, among others, JKR Mukah would continue to give top priority to facilitate water and electricity supply to rural areas along with other infrastructures such as roads and bridges to improve the people’s standard of living as well as the socio-economic developments of the local community.

Hipani was also hopeful that the upgrading works on Jalan Selangau-Matadeng (Mukah) junction could be completed by the contractors before the start of Pesta Kaul Mukah festival scheduled to begin this April 23.

Hipani also commended Sokanjaya Mukah for organising many sports and recreational activities for its members and their families to enjoy better health and social bonding.

Among the activities at the dinner attended by more than 500 people included presentation of educational incentives to members’ children, excellent service awards, trophies to winners of Sokanjaya Mukah sports carnival, appreciation letters to retiring staff and staff on transfer, and lucky draws.
