SIBU: A stretch of Apollo Barat Road near SJK Su Lai since March 7, for a specific time of the day, has been switched into a one-way street.

REGULATING TRAFFIC: A Rela member helps to control the traffic in the afternoon session.

Road users were reminded that the new arrangement has been fixed at 6.30am to 7.15am and 12.30pm to 1.20pm.

Pelawan assemblyman Vincent Goh told a press conference in a coffee shop here yesterday that the arrangement was only applicable during school days.

“Rela members will be around to help the school’s traffic wardens to regulate traffic flow during the specified hours,” he added.

He said the traffic situation near the school had improved with the new arrangement.

Goh said further improvement may be needed around noon as pupils will be leaving the school.

According to him, the traffic flow arrangement was made following complaints from road users that parents stationed their cars indiscriminately resulting in traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, the 30-metre shelter in front of SJK Su Lai has been extended by 10 metres.

Goh has granted RM10,000 for the extension.

With Goh at the press conference was Pusat Operasi Anggota Rela Sibu (P.O.R Apollo) chairman Wong Ling Tong.
