MIRI: A team from Miri Police arrested four men in connection with the assault of a coffin seller at Jalan Riam last week.
On Saturday the team raided two houses in Permyjaya and Shan Garden and arrested all the suspects in their 20s and 30s.
In the attack, the victim’s leg was severed after a group of unknown men armed with Samurai swords attacked him in his shop. The offence is framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
During the arrest of the suspects, police could not find any weapon used in the attack.
Miri Police Chief ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim when contacted on Sunday over the phone confirmed the arrest.
“We have arrested all the suspects – an Iban and the rest Chinese,” he said.
Asked the motive for the attack, Jamaluddin said revenge might have provoked it.
