MIRI: Both PAS and DAP are eyeing Senadin against incumbent Datuk Lee Kim Shin of the Barisan Nasional.

However, the names have yet to be revealed by the respective parties.

Miri PAS information chief Mohd Azwani confirmed yesterday that the party would field a candidate in the constituency.

“But we won’t disclose the identity now. Let our leaders make the announcement,” he said to The Borneo Post when contacted.

When asked, Azwani said as far as the party was concerned only PAS would square it off with the BN in Senadin.

“It’s a one vs one between the BN and Pakatan Rakyat coalition.”

But word from the grapevine is that the DAP is also interested in Senadin.

It is rumoured that DAP Senadin’s chairlady Lim Su Kien would be fielded there.

However, when contacted yesterday, Lim declined to comment on the matter.

She said a decision on the matter would most probably be made within this week or next week.

“I have no idea whether I am nominated. However, if I am selected, I am ready,” she replied.

In 2008, she contested  in the parliamentary seat of Bintulu against BN-SPDP’s Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing but lost.

“If I am fielded again, this will be my second political challenge,” said the 38-year-old businesswoman who is also Sarawak DAP secretary of Women’s Affairs.
