MELAKA: The Ministry of Energy,Green Technology and Water fully supports Melaka’s intention to play a wider role in the green technology agenda and be an example for other states.

Its minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui said Melaka and the other states are being asked to cooperate with the Federal government in implementing green technology.

“It is hoped that green technology, which can help overcome any negative impact to the environment in future, can also drive the country’s economy,” he said in his speech, while officiating a seminar on Melaka as a progressive and green technology state in Ayer Keroh here yesterday.

The two-day seminar on green technology is also being attended by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, and more than 200 participants, including 20 specialists in the field.

They will come up with a green technology development plan to be implemented by the state government.

Chin said the ministry will have discussions either twice or thrice annually with the Melaka state government, which was recently recognised by the Federal government as the country’s green technology centre. — Bernama
