KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Immigration Department has launched a campaign known as 3S’ – Senyum (smile), Sopan (polite) and Sapa (greet), to ensure that it will always provide excellent service to their customers.

Its director, Mohammad Haji Mentek, said the campaign is important, especially for frontline personnel, who are the first to meet the customers.

“We have received complaints that some Immigration personnel were not friendly as they did not smile to their customers.

“We launch this campaign not merely because we had received complaints from the public, but we have always tried to improve our service for the comfort of our customers,” he said after attending the department’s monthly gathering and launched the campaign at the Federal Government Administration Complex in Jalan Sulaman here yesterday.

Also present were passport chief Haji Hassan Haji Abbas and enforcement head Dairin Unsir.

Mohammad said the campaign was in line with the call by their director general, Datuk Alias Haji Ahmad.

“The campaign is held nationwide to ensure that the department has a good image and to always provide the best service to its customers,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohammad said the people in Ranau do not have to come to the state capital anymore to renew their passports as there is already an Immigration office in the district.

“The branch office has opened since February to make it convenient for the people in Ranau to renew their passports. This means that they do not have to travel to Kota Kinabalu as they can now do it in Ranau and they will receive their passport within a week after application,” he said.
