MIRI: The people of Sarawak need a change of government, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) candidate for Telang Usan, Harrison Ngau Laing yesterday.

Harrison, who was announced by PKR State chief Baru Bian last week as the candidate for the constituency, told The Borneo Post over the phone yesterday that Pakatan Rakyat offered an alternative government to that of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state.

With Harrison in, Telang Usan is expected to see a three-corner fight among Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak National Party (SNAP) and PKR.

Harrison, a Kayan, is an environmentalist and politician.

He was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 1990 for his work to prevent deforestation in the state.

Harrison has been working on the ground to meet the people in Baram, including through Sabahat Alam, and handling NCR land issues in the constituency.
