KUCHING: Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) Sarawak is almost certain it can use its party symbol in the next state polls with the confirmation by the party’s vice president Huan Cheng Guan that the logo has been approved by the authority and that the Election Commission will make the announcement about it soon.

PCM state chairman Gabriel Adit Demong who is the Ngemah incumbent told The Borneo Post that Huan messaged him about the good news yesterday.

Members of the party have been waiting anxiously for the approval otherwise their candidates would have to stand as independents.

Adit added, “We will only be able to tell if PCM is putting up its candidates on nomination day. But even if the party is not contesting we will still see what we can go about it.”

Adit is a four-term Ngemah assemblyman. He used to be in the BN when he was a member of the Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) which was deregistered in 2004.

He first won the seat in the 1991 state election on PBDS ticket and similarly in 1996 and 2001 polls.

In the 2006 election he contested as independent and managed to defend his seat for the fourth consecutive term after beating two other contenders, namely Alexander Vincent from PRS as a BN candidate and Richard Lias from Sarawak National Party (SNAP).

Adit is expected to stand again in Ngemah in the next election.
