LUBOK ANTU: Batang Ai will see a straight fight between incumbent Malcolm Mussen Lamoh,52, of the BN and Nicholas Bawin Anggat,53, of PKR.

Mussen’s proposer is Grang Juben and seconder is Jampi Untong, while Bawin was proposed by Muyang Jamed and seconded by Unjong Munau.

Bawin is a seasoned politician, having contested but lost in Batang Ai in the last state election in 2006 against the late Datuk Dublin Unting Ingkot.

He contested in Lubok Antu during the 2008 parliamentary election but lost to William Nyallau Badak.

Mussen won the seat in the April 2009 by-election, following the death of Dublin on Feb 24 that year. Mussen defeated former Lubok Antu MP Jawah Gerang by a 1,854-vote majority after garnering 3,907 votes.

Yesterday, Bawin filed his nomination papers soon after the nomination centre was opened. Mussen followed about 15 minutes later.

The nomination here was conducted smoothly, and no untoward incidents were reported.
