Taib has replacement in mind, assures Muhyiddin

BINTULU: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud should already have in mind who his best successor would be.

In saying this, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Taib would be able to find a capable young leader to carry on the task of bringing uninterrupted development to the state.

“If we can see from a party’s political transformation, there will be change and transition of leadership, we cannot discard the seniors as they have experience and we bring in younger ones as what is practised in Sarawak state election.

“The time will come for seniors to step down and similarly for Taib, he will someday also retire, there will be new leadership to take over,” said Muhyiddin.

He stressed that the most important thing is continuity in policies and their implementation.

“For Sarawak, it will not end, transition of leadership will continue and the young will take over,” he added.
