SMK Deshon wins Interschool English Language Drama Competition

SIBU: SMK Deshon emerged champion in the Interschool English Language Drama Competition held at its school hall on Tuesday.

Organised by SMK Deshon, the competition was participated by 10 secondary schools namely Sekolah Menengah Vocational, SMK Rosli Dhoby, SMK Sungai Merah, SMK Jalan Oya, SMK Agama, SMK Deshon, SMK Chung Hua, SMK St Elizabeth, SMK Durin and SMK Sibu Jaya.

The second place went to SMK Rosli Dhoby followed by SMK Agama.

SMK Deshon produced the best script where Law Suk Poh was the best director for their dramatic performance.

Jennifer Tiong from SMK Rosli Dhoby was crowned as the best performer toppling other contenders.

Five consolation prizes went to SMK Sg Merah, SMK Chung Hua, SMK Sibu Jaya, SMK St Elizabeth and SMK Durin.

Headmaster of SMK Deshon Nicholas Bamphield presented medals to the winners.

At the closing ceremony, Nicholas said the competition was aimed at improving the standard of English language of students.

This, he said, was an opportunity for the students from various schools to interact among themselves and learn from each other.

The headmaster also said the school was planning to hold another similar competition at state level.
