CIMB aims for 17 per cent retail deposit growth this year

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic are aiming to register a 17 per cent growth in retail deposits this year, said CIMB head of Retail Financial Services, Peter England.

He said the target can be achieved as the banks retail deposit in the first quarter of the year has already registered a 6.8 per cent growth, through the banks’ second joint deposit drive campaign, ‘2 Good 2 Be True’.

“The campaign has boosted the banks retail deposit further by RM2.9 billion in the first quarter, bringing the banks’ total Malaysian retail deposit base to approximately RM44.3 billion as of 31 March this year,” he said in a press conference after a prize presentation ceremony here yesterday.

Both CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic, today announced the winners of its second ‘2 Good 2 to Be True’ campaign.

England said the bank’s double theme campaign was very successful and attracted more than 336,000 new accounts during the campaign, which ran from Jan 1 to March 31 this year.

The campaign enabled new and existing CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic individual depositors the chance to win fantastic prizes worth more than RM2 million.

Meanwhile at the ceremony today, the grand prize winner, a retired professor from a local university, Dr Cheng Gek Nai, walked away with not one, but two luxurious condominium units in Tropicana, Selangor, worth RM626,900 each.

Three other monthly prize winners meanwhile drove away with two units of Peugeot 308VTi worth RM99,888 each. — Bernama
