July 4-8 trial for youth over murder

KOTA KINABALU: The High Court here yesterday fixed July 4-8 this year as the new trial date for a local youth charged with murder, an offence punishable by mandatory death upon conviction.

Justice Datuk David Wong Dak Wah set the date for the trial of Muhammad Mat Salleh, 20, when the case came up for re-mention to fix a new hearing date yesterday.

The accused, who pleaded not guilty to the charge on Oct 19, 2010, is represented by counsel Hamid Ismail.

Muhammad allegedly murdered 20-year-old Kelly Christine at Infinite Choice Sdn Bhd, (Family Recreational Cenre) in Papar Century Plaza between 3.15pm and 3.45pm.

He is liable to the mandatory death sentence if found guilty of the alleged offence under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The prosecution will be calling 15 witnesses during the trial.

Deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharuddin appeared for the prosecution.
