KOTA KINABALU: Puteri Umno expressed support yesterday for Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who has been under attack by the opposition.
Its chief, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, said that Musa had proven his caliber and described opposition statements questioning his leadership as “provocative” and “irresponsible”.
She noted that Musa, who is Sabah head of Umno and Barisan Nasional, led the coalition to near-total victory in the last general election, with the loss of only one seat.
Rosnah, who is Deputy Health Minister and Papar Member of Parliament, was responding to a call by Sabah Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said yesterday for leaders of the party to defend Musa against criticisms whether from the opposition or “disgruntled leaders in the state BN”.
“They must stop doing this. Datuk Musa has the full support of the Umno leadership,” she told reporters at the presentation of excellence awards to students of SMK Perempuan Likas near here.
She said that the opposition was trying to cause concern over the state leadership when there was no reason to worry.
Rosmah said that Musa had the support of the federal government and all BN component parties, and opposition acts to undermine him were futile. – Bernama
