State Education Exco Datuk Masidi Manjun said the compulsory activity, which was initiated early this year, would be able to produce more dynamic and extraordinary students with better perspective in life.

“The system enables one student to have at least one sport activity,” he said when closing a national-level Gala Co-curriculum at the Sabah Co-curricular Centre at Kem Malangan Kiulu, near here yesterday.

“The Gala Co-curriculum is one of the efforts in transforming the educational system in Malaysia , and as one of the most important element in development of education,” said Masidi who is also Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment.

He said co-curricular activities in school would provide extra skills and values such as tolerance, confidence, teamwork and discipline to become better citizens.

“These co-curriculum activities will give positive values to youngsters to prepare themselves for real life after leaving school,” he added.

Also present at the event yesterday were Education Department deputy director-general Dr Haji Zahri Aziz and Sabah Education Department director Datuk Muhiddin Yusin.
