KOTA KINABALU: Fifteen Filipino masseuses and a man, aged between 22 and 49, were detained by the Immigration Department for abusing their work permits.

Sabah Immigration Director Mohammad Mentek said they were detained in a raid carried out by immigration officers from Lahad Datu on the second floor of a four-
star hotel here around 7.30pm.

“We received complaints from the public that foreign workers, namely Filipinos, were offering massage services to customers,” he said.

“Further investigation showed that those detained have abused their work permits,” he said yesterday.

The raiding team also found among other things, condoms in rubbish bins, which indicated the women were also offering sexual services.

The case will be investigated under Section 39 (b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, Mohammad said.
