KOTA KINABALU: A man obtained a full refund for his mobile phone worth RM360 at the Consumer Claims Tribunal here yesterday.

The claimant, who wished to be known as Sylvian, bought a China-manufactured iPhone look-alike, for his brother Steven at a shop at Karamunsing Complex in October last year.

However, the phone started to malfunction after three days and the claimant took it back to the shop within the one-month warranty period.

After waiting for five months, the shop informed Sylvian that they had changed management and he had to pay RM80 to claim his warranty.

Tribunal president Datuk Dr Lawrence S.H. Thien ordered the respondent to refund RM360 to the claimant while the mobile phone would be possessed by the respondent.
