MIRI: The Association of Christian Churches of Sarawak (ACS) Miri branch and Miri Pastors’ Fellowship (MPF) are jointly organising an Easter concert at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club on May 14.

The concert themed “Mighty to Save” will be organised in the club’s Musical Corridor to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, an event considered most meaningful to Christians.

“This will be the second time we are organising the Easter concert, and we intend to make it an annual event,” said the organising chairman Solomon Cheong Sung Voon in Miri City Council conference room yesterday.

Events being lined up included choir, presentations, talks, singing, and other shows to be organised by members of various churches here.

“Last year it was held in a church in Lutong, and was too crowded due to the lack of space,” said Cheong who is also the vicar of St Columba’s Parish.

Meanwhile Miri Pastors’ Fellowship secretary Pastor Terence Chang described the concert’s theme as highlighting the mighty powers of God in Christ’s resurrection to save mankind.

The joint collaboration between two of the largest Christian groups here is expected to draw a crowd of about 1,000 people.

Entrance is free and the concert will start 6.30pm.
