Do you have a message for cancer patients?
KUCHING: The Max Foundation, a US based non-profit cancer organisation, is currently here to collect messages from Sarawakians for cancer patients across the globe.
The messages collected from the cancer awareness campaign would be forwarded to United Nation (UN).
The foundation (Malaysia office) patient support personnel Wong Siea Liang yesterday said they had collected over 10,000 messages throughout the country.
“The messages would be collected until October. It is part of our cancer awareness campaign, ‘Maximize Life’,” she said.
The message is in line with the UN’s World Cancer Declaration, a call to action from the global cancer community.
The declaration was developed by the International Union Against Cancer, adopted by the World Cancer Summit 2008 and endorsed by the World Cancer Congress 2008.
Members of the public can visit the booth of the foundation set up at Pullman Hotel here in conjunction with the 9th Malaysian National Haematology Scientific Meeting until May 1.
Alternatively, members of the public can log on to www.themaxfoundation.org to give their support.
Visitors could also gain useful information on Max Family, a local Chronic Myeloid Leukaemaia (CML) patient support group, formed in July 2006 with joint-effort of the foundation and a group of dedicated Malaysians CML patients and caregivers.
Its goal is to improve the life of people living with CML through providing support from various aspects.
