KUCHING: A 21-year-old labourer was sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment in the magistrates’ court here yesterday after he pleaded guilty to stealing a motorcycle.
Mohamad Nazrul Engris from Kampung Baru in Samarahan appeared before Portia Tham Ong Leng who convicted him under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
Nazrul committed the offence at a security hut of a condominium at Jalan Wan Alwi.
According to the brief facts of the case, Nazrul brought home a Honda Wave bike key from the security hut without the consent of the owner.
Upon investigation, he admitted to the investigation officer that he had stolen the machine. Inspector Ahmad Ilias prosecuted while Nazrul was not represented by any lawyer.
