DAP ready to host Borneo Cultural Festival

KUCHING: The state DAP has proposed to the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) to let it (DAP) organise the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) since the council is not interested in staging it this year.

State DAP chairman Wong Ho Leng said SMC should let other parties (such as the DAP) take over the task to ensure the festival continue to flourish.

The Sibu MP pointed out that it was unfair for the authorities to punish the people for not supporting the BN in the April 16 polls.

He said the BCF was important because it had grown to become a major community event in the central region.

In that context, Wong wondered why the BN government still kept other programmes such as Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) going.

“Are they (SMC) treating Sibu folks as if they are stupid? Sibu folks are not stupid and they are not to be penalised for supporting PR,” Wong said.
