House owner assaulted, robbed of RM1,000

KUCHING: A man was hurt and robbed of about RM1,000 in his house at Jalan Setia Raja here yesterday.

The 44-year-old businessman claimed that he encountered a robber in his house at Taman Casa Marbella at about 5am yesterday.

They fought and the robber cut his right arm with a knife.

He sustained minor injury.

Before fleeing, the robber grabbed some stuff from the house including a handphone, cash of about RM1,000, ATM cards and personal documents.

In an unrelated matter, a foreign woman from Hong Kong had her handbag snatched by a thief on a motorcycle at Jalan Song Thian Cheok at about 10am last Sunday.

She was walking on the road when the snatcher came from behind.

The 56-year-old lost a few hundred ringgit cash, handphone, camera, credit card and personal documents.

Meanwhile, a coffee shop worker lost a few hundred ringgit cash and a digital camera to a snatch thief at the Third Mile.

At about 10am yesterday she was waiting for someone at a bus station at Third Mile when a thief riding a motorcycle grabbed her handbag and fled.

Police reports had been made for all the cases.

Police are investigating.
