It’s only speculation — LDP president

KOTA KINABALU: Speculations that Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) deputy president Datuk Chin Su Phin will be appointed a Senator is just that, mere speculations.

Party president Datuk VK Liew when contacted yesterday on the matter said: “I cannot confirm on speculation as it is speculative and hearsay.

“I therefore have no intention to deal with it,” he added.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Ministerís Department said this when asked for confirmation of a newspaper report published yesterday saying that Chin was expected to be appointed a Senator.

The report also speculated that Chin’s appointment could ‘pacify’ LDP after a recent state Cabinet reshuffle resulted in the party not having any representation.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman reshuffled the Cabinet after former LDP vice president Datuk Peter Pang resigned from the party.

Pang who joined Gerakan was dropped as Deputy Chief Minster for the Chinese quota but was retained as Youth and Sports minister.

LDP was unhappy with Musa’s decision to retain Pang and described the move as ‘not being in the Barisan Nasional (BN) spirit’.
