SIBU: The Sibu Customs Department rolled out ‘Meet the Clients Day’ yesterday as they strive to impress with their responsiveness and people-centric services.

Its chief Muhd Yunus Hanuar said they wanted to get closer to their clients to build better rapport while providing them with an array of services to help them conduct businesses in a more conducive manner.

“We provide electronic declaration system for import and export to facilitate them in doing their business,” he told reporters after ‘Meet the Clients Day’ cum dialogue session at Rajang Port Authority (RPA) here.

Muhd Yunus pointed out that the electronic declaration and the ISO 9001: 2008 were in line with the department’s vision to achieve a world class service come 2015.

He disclosed that tariff code classification on goods, foreign exchange rate (forex) and goods clearance from port were among the services provided to their clients.

He revealed that their clients comprised freight forwarders, shipping agents, cargo handlers, hauliers, importers and exporters.

“The myriad of services rendered are to facilitate the business community in conducting their trade and attract foreign investors, making Sibu one of the major trading ports,” he said.

Turning to the ‘Meet the Clients Day’ yesterday, he said people can also seek their services on other days.

On the dialogue session, Muhd Yunus disclosed that it was geared towards understanding their clients’ views and expectations.

“The dialogue is a platform for sharing of knowledge and how things can be done more effectively,” he said.
