UCA chairman declines re-nomination, gives way to new blood

KAPIT: Ma Tian Ho took over the stewardship of United Chinese Association (UCA) from incumbent Yong Hua Sying who opted to decline re-nomination to pave the way for other potential leader to unite the Chinese community in Kapit.

UCA held its annual general meeting on Tuesday evening at Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce, which was attended by delegates from the various affiliated associations.

There are eight affiliated associations in the UCA – Tai San Ten, Foochow, Chiang Chuan, Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owner’s Association, Kwang Tung, Chinese Women Association and Music Society.

Yong Hua Sying, who is also the chairman of Chinese Chamber of Commerce, deputy chairman of Foochow Association and chairman of Sarawak Lorry Association Kapit Liaison, has served for two terms as the chairman of the UCA.

The chairman elect will call for a meeting to select the new committee members.

The delegates from Tai San Ten Association were Ma Tian Ho, Sng Geok Yieng, Sia Weng Ping, Chua Kian Guan and Tan Kian Hoo;

Foochow Association – Liew Song Swee Swee, Wong Kie Ing, David Wong, Ting Hwa Kong and James Ling; Chiang Chuan – Ma Tian Kock, Tan Kian Kiong, Jason Yeo, Chua Bee Hung and Peter Su; Chinese Chamber of Commerce – Yong Hua Sying, Kui Ching Lai, Sii Bang Ee and Ngieng Hock Seng;  Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners – Kong Chin Hwa, Kong Ee Ming, Yii Kau Chai and Wong Hau Kee;

Kwang Tung –  Lee See Fung, Lee Lai Kui, Kong Sien Jong and Yap Chung Sing;  Chinese Women Association – Wong Siau Kiew, Tie Weng Fung, Lau Siau Nai and Sia Leh Ching; and Music Society –  Ma Bee Kuan, Tan Su Fung and Yong Lai Seng.
