TAMBUNAN: A 15-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a river at Kampung Kibunut here yesterday.
Tambunan fire and rescue station chief Azis Busli, who led the operation, said the body of Arbain Umar from Kampung Kobusak was found by a villager around 3.30pm yesterday.
“We received a distress call at 2.45pm and a team was dispatched to the scene immediately.
“The victim’s body was found by a villager who dived heroically into the river before a scuba unit arrived,” he said, adding that the victim’s body was found not far from where he was reported missing.
The body was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.
