KUALA LUMPUR: The final leg of the Pikom PC Fair 2011 at Kota Bharu and Ipoh is expected to see good response from the community, based on the downward spiralling trend of prices of gadgets.

According to Pikom president Shaifubahrim Saleh, the fair at both locations was expected to be well received as downward spiralling prices for notebook PCs, Internet media devices, digital cameras and smartphones emphasised on the increasing affordability of such devices.

“Visitors to this fair this week can enjoy stretching their purchasing power,” noted Shaifubahrim.

“We expect more than 30,000 shoppers at the Fair in Kota Bharu this week which feature a sizable combination of local and international ICT retailers in 58 booths.” The Fair in Kelantan Trade Centre, Kota Bharu will end on May 21.

Meanwhile, the Fair in Ipoh held at Stadium Indera Mulia, will be held from today until May 22.

The Pikom president added that consumers were rapidly adopting broadband usage apart from including broadband connectivity as a purchasing decision factor.

“We are seeing more shoppers favouring devices that enables them to get connected when the need arises or devices that are Web-ready.

Broadband connectivity is better today – more stable and affordable.

We are going to see home users and small businesses adopting wireless broadband.” As part of Pikom’s 25th anniversary celebration, lucky draws would be held and visitors to the Fair can take part in the 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm draws.

Participants with the lucky draw forms were also eligible to take part in Pikom’s Grand Draw this coming December.

The Grand Draw features a RM100,000 special edition Mazda 2 as its grand prize.

In addition, visitors can also redeem a mystery gift by pre-registering online at www.pikom.my or the Fair’s visitors counters.

Each successful registrant will receive a coded text message via SMS in order to redeem the gifts.
