SANDAKAN: Twelve secondary school students were detained by the police on Thursday to facilitate investigation into a gang fight in front of a bus stop at Mile 1.5 here.

District deputy police chief Superintendent Fadzil Mohd Ali disclosed that two boys were injured in the fight on Wednesday after school. One of them suffered from head injuries and the other two broken fingers.

One of the injured students was accompanying another friend to the bus stop when a group of students from another secondary school suddenly appeared armed with belt buckles and straps and attacked them.

“One of the injured students had an earlier dispute with the attackers,” said Fadzil.

Fadzil said that the case would be investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.

In another unrelated incident, a company supplying ready mixed cement had lodged a police report yesterday claiming the loss of 400 litres of diesel from their lorries which were parked overnight at Mile 8.

The drivers of the lorries found that their tanks were half full when they went for work in the morning.

It is the practice of the company to fill up the tanks of the lorries the previous day before they finished their work.

Meanwhile, at Mile 8, Bandar Labuk Jaya, a contractor had lodged a police report yesterday claiming the loss of two front tyres of his lorry worth about RM1,000 when his lorry driver noticed the tyres missing when going for work in the morning.

Fadzil confirmed the cases and said police were investigating.
