KOTA KINABALU: District officers are requested to report to the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry of any damaged food supplies under the 1Azam programme given to the people.

Assistant director of the Welfare Department Said Sidup said that yesterday in response to the claim made by Kundasang assemblyman Dr. Joachim Gunsalam about some of the items under the programme being damaged.

“The delivery process of the items are managed by the ministry and our department merely lends our helping hands to distribute them to the poor people.

“If there are damages to the food items, the district officer should make a report to the ministry for further action because the suppliers are responsible for this,” he added.

The 1Azam programme or ‘Akhiri Zaman Kemiskinan’ (Put an end to poverty) was implemented by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

It is aimed at improving the living standard of low income households and is part of the National Key Results Area (NKRA) envisioned under the Government Transformation Programme.
