President team clinches Normah’s trophy

KUCHING: President team emerged as the champion and win the Toh Puan Hajjah Normah Challenge Trophy in the PTBS Classic tournament held at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Bumiputera Association (SLTBA) tennis center recently.

The team took home RM1, 200 beating Secretary team who received RM800.

They also received trophies and medals.

Meanwhile Jeremy John won the singles title and bagged RM500 and a Babolat bag.

His challenger in the final, Amin Tamel, received RM300 and also a Babolat bag.

In the doubles, Hasbi Jaya and Safiee Samat showed an awesome understanding in the court to brush aside challenges from their opponents Zaini Bol and Bujang Sulong to take home RM300 and medals.

Zaini and his partner received RM150 and medals.

Meanwhile the tournament’s spokesman said the tournament had achieved its objective to recruit new members.

“We also managed to use the tournament as a platform to improve relationship among the association members,” he said.

In the under 16 category, the champions for Group A and Group B was Nur Razan Zafirah and Muhd Nur Farid, respectively.

The closing ceremony of the tournament, which saw a participation of 80 SLTBA members, was graced by the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) president Datuk Patrick Liew.

The SLTBA president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Nor also presented.
