KUCHING: Ten teams will line up for the Sarawak Inter-Division Championship at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) centre here from tomorrow to June 26.

Host Kuching Division Lawn Tennis Association (KDLA) and Persatuan Tenis Bumiputera Sarawak will field two teams each with one each from Sibu, Sarikei, Bau, Kapit, Miri and Limbang.

“We are still waiting for Kota Samarahan and Bintulu to confirm,” said advisor to the organising committee Dato Patrick Liew.

The team managers’ meeting will be held at 6pm today, followed by the draw. The opening ceremony will be at 8.30am tomorrow with the competition to start at 9am.

“It’s a team event consisting of three singles and two doubles over three days,” Liew added.

After the Inter-Division, the Sarawak Closed will be held from June 27 to 29, featuring men’s singles, men’s doubles and men’s veteran.

Liew, who is SLTA and KDLTA president, said senior players would have the chance to continue competing in these tournaments also aimed at fostering ties among the affiliates.

The winners will represent Sarawak in the Borneo Games in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, next year.
