Lawas MP’s brother dies from pancreatic cancer

LAWAS: Abas, 60, younger brother of Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, passed away in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah early Wednesday morning.

A former civil servant who served in Lawas District Office, Abas, succumbed to pancreatic cancer for which he sought treatment in Kuala Lumpur and later Kota Kinabalu when his situation deteriorated.

Henry accompanied the body of his younger brother back to Kota Kinabalu from KL, and it was brought home to Long Tuan village in Trusan for funeral rites and burial.

Among those offering their condolences to the family and paying their last respects were former Bukit Mas MP Michael Lisa Kaya, Pemanca Tan Yong H’ng, heads of government departments and community leaders in Lawas.

Limbang Resident Maria Hasman, Limbang District Officer Anyi Ngau and his Lawas counterpart Mohd Supaih Hamdan, Lawas District Education officer Matzinan Wahit, Information Department chief Syarulizan Madian and RTD Lawas head Julaihie Dison were among those who came to pay their last respects.

Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud send their condolences through their representatives.

Abas left behind eight children including four sons.
