KUCHING: SEGi College Sarawak is making its programmes more industry relevant by giving its students more hands-on experience through its industry partners.

Students undertaking Hotel Management and Tourism Management were given the opportunity to gain more firsthand experience during the field trip to one of Kuching’s leading hotel, Grand Margherita Hotel.

The second year students were accompanied by their Hotel Management lecturer Nur Farihin Abd Hadi Khan, and Sales and Marketing assistant director Jason Tie.

“The Hotel Management and Tourism Management programme at SEGi offers students more than just academic knowledge,” said Nur Farihin, adding that the experience tied well with the students’ learning requirements.

SEGi is aspiring to make its Hotel Management and Tourism Management graduates the best candidates for the country’s hotel and tourism industries.

Commenting on the future employment of SEGI’s graduates from these programmes, Nur Farihin said that the nation is also expecting to see an increase in the number of Malaysians travelling within the country, which will in turn increase the number of jobs in the local tourism market.

During the trip, students not only toured the hotel and its vicinity but were also briefed by the hotel’s officers regarding the operations of the hotel business.

SEGi’s Hotel Management and Tourism Management programmes are constantly upgraded to meet the growing demand for skilled and resourceful employees in the fast expanding tourism and hospitability industries.

For those who are interested to sign up for these programmes, the next intake is now open.
