SIBU: The police here rescued a 16-year-old girl from Singkawang Kalimantan who they believed was being unlawfully confined as well as forced into prostitution.

Acting on information from the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching, ASP Tega Bilong led a police team to raid the premises at Laichee Lane on Wednesday at 10pm and found the girl who appeared pale and weak.

In a follow up raid, the police stormed into an entertainment outlet in Central Road and arrested two Indonesian women aged 24 and 31 and two local men aged 39 and 44.

The two women were serving customers as guest-relation-officers (GROs) at the premises when the police raided.

They were believed to be working for the two men.

A customer was also detained but released shortly.

One of the women was said to be a friend of the 16-year-old who came to Sibu on June 11 with a female friend called Fitri through a female agent who worked at a shopping complex.
