Shell training drivers to become fuel savers at Eco-marathon

KUALA LUMPUR: Shell FuelSave has uncovered some of Asia’s biggest fuel spenders – so they can turn them into fuel savers at
Shell Eco-marathon.

The programme is running alongside the ongoing global rollout of Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Diesel, two fuels that have been specially designed to help drivers save up to 1 litre per tank at no extra cost.

Eighteen drivers keen to learn how to save fuel and cut their motoring costs have been selected to become the inaugural Shell FuelSave Teams for Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

They will receive extensive training from a team of Shell scientists and fuel economy experts at Shell Eco-marathon Asia in Kuala Lumpur to help them become top fuel savers.

The training will culminate in an epic 1 Litre Challenge in which the teams will go head to head to see who can go the furthest on a single litre of Shell FuelSave Unleaded.

Following the event, they will lead a campaign to inspire their own nation’s drivers to be more fuel-efficient.

To do so, they will use their fuel economy training and experiences at Shell Eco-marathon Asia to show how saving fuel has helped them cut their household bills.

They will also play a starring role in Guinness World Record attempt for the ‘Largest Fuel Efficiency Masterclass’ at Shell FuelSave Day in October.

Cesar Romero, vice president of Shell Retail East said Shell is passionate about helping motorists get the most out of their fuel.

“So recruiting a team of real drivers from across Asia to become fuel savers and help inspire others to be more fuel efficient is a natural step for us,” he said.

Recruiting the Shell FuelSave Teams in Asia is the latest part of an ongoing Shell campaign to promote fuel efficiency. Three more Shell Teams will be recruited in Europe.
