DENTURE HAZARD: The supervisor arriving at the hospital.

KUCHING: A work supervisor of a city council was admitted to the Red Zone at Sarawak General Hospital when he swallowed his dentures after being kicked in the jaw by a subordinate yesterday.

The incident happened around 11am under the Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub bridge in Satok when the 45-year-old supervisor and his subordinate, also in his 40s, were taking a lunch break following landscaping work in the area.

According to the source, the victim was berating his subordinate over a work-related issue when the latter, who was walking in front, lost his temper and delivered a ‘roundhouse’ kick to the victim’s jaw.

The kick caused the supervisor to swallow his upper row of false teeth, which became lodged in his throat but fortunately did not obstruct his airway.

He was subsequently taken to the hospital and was scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the dentures yesterday.

In an unrelated incident, a young married couple were referred to the Sarawak General Hospital along with a 15-year-old boy following a road accident in Betong on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 2pm when the couple were on their way to the shops to buy milk for their baby, who was at home in the care of family members.

The accident occurred at a junction not far from their house when their motorcycle collided with another bike ridden by the teenager.

All three were badly hurt with limb fractures and were referred here around 7pm for further treatment.
