SAPP tells Sabah DAP not to talk like Umno

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) expressed shock over Sabah DAP’s criticism relating to the party’s signboard issue.

Its vice president Dullie Marie said, Sabah DAP was talking like Umno telling the people to must ‘obey the law’ and ‘not to challenge the law’.

He said, this was the same flimsy arguments which Umno ministers such as Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussin, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim and even Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali had used when condemning the brave Bersih activists.

“Does it not look like Sabah DAP is asking PAS’ Mohamad Sabu, PKR’s Anwar Ibrahim, Bersih’s Ambiga Sreenavasan, MCLM’s Haris Ibrahim and the tens of thousands of brave people in KL ‘not to challenge the law’ and not to march to Stadium Merdeka? “What has DAP Sabah got against the SAPP signboard? Does the signboard contain any obscene words? Does the structure pose any danger to the public, block the traffic or infringe on any other rights? Where is the urgency that required the signboard to be removed immediately?” Dullie contended yesterday.

He said since Sabah DAP is so supportive of City Hall’s action to pull down SAPP’s signboard, it means DAP is also asking for the thousands of advertising signboards and banners without permit in Kota Kinabalu to be removed by City Hall immediately, without giving ample notice.

“The fact is, BN political leaders are panicky that they even abused their powers to use City Hall and other government agencies to harass SAPP on the yellow signboard containing the word “BERSIH”.

“City Hall officers pointed out that their instructions were only to remove the yellow signboard containing the word “Bersih”.

Why is Sabah DAP upset like the BN with the word “Bersih”? Why did DAP not support the Bersih campaign? Is this an act of goodwill to the BN and to the Prime Minister? “Sabah DAP should not be anti-SAPP for the sake of being anti-SAPP.

The people of Sabah want to see straight fights against BN,” said Dullie in a statement in response to a recent statement by Sabah DAP vice head Edward Ewol Mujie.

He said Sabah DAP should recognize that the BN is the opposition’s real enemy and to see the bigger picture and not to repeatedly kill the possibility of co-operation with SAPP.

“At the insistence of Sabah DAP chief, Jimmy Wong Su Pin, SAPP formed a negotiation team.

But some DAP leaders, like Hiew King Chiew seems to be not happy with the arrangement,” he added.
