Great United Club sends team on educational tour to Perth

SIBU: Sibu Great United Club will send a 12-member team to Perth, Australia to pick up pointers on how they can get their club to soar to new heights.

Club chairman Chua Tung Wei said the week-long tour begins on July 21.

“While there, we hope to visit social organisations and learn how they function, including their community projects.

“This will be an eye opener for us as we expect to pick up new knowledge and ideas along the way,” Chua enthused.

He was highly optimistic that the visit would allow them to understand better the culture and ways of life in Perth.

But Perth will not be their final destination as they have also planned a similar visit to Korea.

“We‘ll have a visit to Seoul later this year to learn from the Koreans on stage  management, including the aspect of stage lightings.

“We hope the knowledge gained will put us in good stead when we stage our year end concert,” he said yesterday.

Meanwhile, the club will hold a singing competition on Aug 18 at Medan Mall, which will be followed by the National Day countdown at Sibu Town Square on Aug 30.

Also, a grander than their previous lantern festival competition is expected this year.
