KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching (KSK) has since June 30 last year become the first and only local institute in East Malaysia to be granted Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) with Platinum Approved Learning Partner Status.

With this accomplishment, KSK joined the ranks of Sunway-TES as yet another Sunway institution to be accorded the distinction of being a Platinum Tuition Provider by ACCA (United Kingdom).

Platinum is the highest and most prestigious level of approval granted by ACCA which is highly-recognised – not only in Malaysia but also in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sunway Kuching’s academic team has been consistently setting high standards of achievements in surpassing the worldwide ACCA and CAT examination pass rates.

To date, the college has produced a total of 176 ACCA Affiliates, 64 OBU degree holders, 360 CAT finalists, as well as countless London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Accounting Certificate and Diploma holders.

They have also produced two World Prize Winners in CAT and 16 Malaysian Prize winners in CAT and ACCA external exams, and a remarkable 36 LCCI World and Malaysian Gold and Silver Medal winners.

The CAT qualification is awarded by ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), formerly known as the National Accreditation Board (LAN).

It is designed to equip students with the relevant skills and knowledge to carry out supporting roles in accounting, and is generally regarded as a stepping stone to the internationally recognised ACCA professional accountancy qualification.

Upon completing CAT, students receive exemption for three papers (Knowledge Module) at the Fundamentals Level of ACCA.

ACCA is an internationally recognised professional accountancy qualification from UK that is equivalent to a Masters Degree in Accountancy.

It offers quality professional training necessary to meet the demands of employers across a variety of industries, from commercial businesses to accounting and finance firms, and from governmental bodies to educational institutions.

Armed with this qualification and three years of relevant working experience, graduates will be recognised by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and can practice as qualified chartered accountants.
