IN A DITCH: A brand new Myvi landing in the drain after the driver failed to negotiate the blind bend in front of Taman Indah, Jalan Selirik.

KAPIT: Road users here are urging the Road Safety Council to improve the blind bend in front of Taman Indah, Jalan Selirik here which had been the scene of many accidents.

Besides that, the drain poses danger as it is situated just beside that section.

“I told you since Gawai till now, this is the fifth vehicle that turned turtle and landed in the drain. This time it was a Myvi.

“Altogether two cars and three motorcycles had crashed here because their drivers failed to negotiate the blind bend and drove their vehicles right into the drain. The danger is obvious – the drain is just an inch away from the road. Worst still, there’s no warning sign of the danger ahead,” said Ah Chai who lives along the road.

A passenger van driver said each time he approached the stretch he would exercise extra care because a slight mistake would result in a mishap especially when traffic is heavy and at nightfall when the road is dark.

The latest mishap occurred on Saturday, and involved a brand new Myvi driven by a youngster who failed to negotiate the bend.

Fortunately, despite the vehicle landing upside down, he only sustained minor injuries and was able to open the car door to escape from drowning.
