Varsity vice-chancellor calls on Chief Minister

KUCHING: The vice-chancellor of University of Canterbury, Dr Rod Carr paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at his residence on Tuesday.

Dr Carr’s visit was part of an inspirational tour covering Singapore and Malaysia, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu who was also present.

Dr Carr delivered an informative talk on NZ Economy at a business forum in Kuching, and briefed the chief minister on some of the 2,500 courses available at the University of Canterbury (UC).

After the briefing, Taib informed Dr Carr that the state would try to send several senior officers and graduates to UC for doctorate studies in the fields of Power Engineering, Biological Science and Forestry.

Accompanying Dr Carr on the courtesy visit call was Alex Ting, an alumnus.
