3 die in Russian heli crash

MOSCOW: An Mi-8 helicopter with five people onboard crashed in east Russia today, killing three and injuring the other two, Xinua reports.

According to Itar-Tass news agency, an engine failure occurred when the helicopter was making a landing in Chukotka region. The craft crashed into the ground and caught fire.

Earlier this month, another Mi-8 helicopter, owned by Russia’s UTAir airline, crashed while ferrying oil workers to a drilling site in Russian Siberia, killing two and injuring 14 others.
