SYDNEY: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted New Ireland region, Papua New Guinea at 12.50am GMT early this morning, the United States Geological Survey said.

China’s Xinhua news agency reported that the epicentre, with a depth of 34.50 km, was initially determined to be at 3.2134 degrees south latitude and 150.6716 degrees east longitude. – Bernama
